It’s the little things that matter

My mother did not like looking at bright colors. I learned this about her late in life about 7 years after I started making quilts and discovered she was not a fan of my quilts. I love bright colors and the first quilt that I made for her did not get a lot of use. Too bright  & Not pretty  is what she often said about it and other quilts of mine. I made her a second quilt using scraps of fabrics that I had saved up. Fabrics that were softer or more quiet in appearance. I cut 2,115 squares of fabrics, each measuring 2.5 inches, and sewed them together to make a postage stamp quilt. It took a long time to make this
King sized quilt for her Christmas in 1999.

The quilt is pictured here on her king bed at her home in Fort Myers, FL and then again on her
queen bed after she moved to live with me in Orlando, FL. She loved displaying it on her bed for company to see. I like to believe that she came around. May she continue to Rest in Peace.
