“Your heart knows the way. Run in that direction.” – Rumi

I started playing the piano when I was 9 years old. Prior to leaving home for college I had performed in concerts playing classical music at Judson and Carnegie Halls in NY City. These concerts were sponsored by the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, where I attended since I was 13 years old. The headmaster there had yearly auditions and then picked the students that would perform at these annual concerts. I was selected every year. Chopin was my favorite composer and still is. And so I mastered his Nocturnes, Etudes and Waltzes. I was always so nervous during the tryouts and especially playing in front of very large audiences.

The piano keyboard is something that is very familiar to me, and that I am fond of.
In 2016, I made a quilt top for my Quilt Guild that would be auctioned to raise money. It was the
first and only time that I made a piano key border for a quilt. First and only time. I was nervous
doing it. Because it requires a certain level of precision and had to be perfect for this quilt, which
was to be auctioned. In the process of doing it, I remembered how I felt during my auditions and
performances. But the feeling was a little different, because I was doing what I love and my heart
was not beating as fast and as loudly.

See the above picture of the beautiful quilt.
